Environmental scan

Fraser River salmon are in crisis. To improve the coordination and collaboration between First Nations, Crown governments, NGOs, industry, and other user groups, the Lower Fraser Fisheries Alliance is conducting an environmental scan of stewardship and fisheries-related work currently taking place in the Lower Fraser watershed.

This inventory will look at what aquatic stewardship is happening at the First Nation level, but also with NGOs and other agencies. Funding for this was provided through DFO’s Pacific Salmon Stewardship Initiative.

If you are engaged in an initiative that benefits Fraser salmon, please reach out.

The purpose of this environmental scan is to identify who is working in the Lower Fraser region, what they’ve accomplished, and what partnerships they’ve made along the way. Getting an accurate picture of the existing landscape will help LFFA and Lower Fraser First Nations identify gaps, and explore opportunities for better collaboration and get better results for Fraser salmon.

LFFA is working with Ecora, an environmental consulting firm, to conduct the scan. Findings will be posted to a password-restricted database so that Nations can see the work.

The link to the database will appear here when available – stay tuned!
